The world's finest Gelato comes from Australia

After the success of Rome, Valencia, Melbourne, Dubai, Austin and Berlino, Gelato World Tour, the competition between Gelato Chefs from the five continents with the mission of spreding the culture of artsan gelato, has come to the final challenge in Rimini where the World's Best Gelato has been elected.

Mandorla Affogato - John & Sam CrowlThe victory, proclaimed by a jury of specialists and journalists from the industry and merged with the votes from the visitors, has been awarded to John and Sam Crowl from Sydney, Australia, for their exquisite Mandorla Affogato. The second and third steps on the podium were climbed by the Italians Francesco Mastroianni from Lamezia Terme, with the flavour "Cuore di Brontolo’" and Alessandro Lancierini from Suzzara (Mantua) with the gelato “Cuore di Nocciola”.

But there's more winners yet to name! Carlos Enríquez Sánchez from Palma de Mallorca was crowned world champion of the Cookies® Best Taster challenge, guessing the maximum number of flavours from the tempting Cookies® family while blindfolded, and therefore conquering MEC3's Cookies® Cup.

Cookies Best Taster Cup750 kg of MEC3 ingredients (bases, pastes, ripples, toppings, grains) have been used by the 24 finalists presenting their most original creations in Rimini and producing about 6500 kg of delicious Italian artisan gelato for the crowd that visited the GWT Village during the three days of the Grand Finale.

The younger had great fun with the entertainment of the Cookies Mascot. Mini courses dedicated to the world of gelato held by the Chefs of MEC3 International School of Gelato engaged more than 500 spectators.

Sweet tasting occasions were numberless around MEC3 stand, with more than 200 kg of gelato handed out, 70 of which was yummy Cookies® The Original and Cookies® Black, while the others from the Quella family, Gelatinho, Cherry Mania, Mr Nico, and the classic Pistachio and Hazelnut flavours.

It's been a feast of tastes from the MEC3 world, a name rhyming with quality in the art of artisan gelato since 1984. The last stop of this extraordinary travelling event has seen 70.000 people participating, an absolute record for this celebration calling the greatest Gelato Chefs in the world.
